On May 9, 2010 I will be joining many others as I walk in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in Philadelphia.  I personally will be walking for someone I know who is currently fighting the nasty battle of breast cancer and I will be walking alongside a friend who has SURVIVED breast cancer – WOOOHOOO! :) Thousands of women have not survived breast cancer, leaving behind children, husbands, mothers, friends and many more.  You can do your part by donating what you can – whether it be something small, it all counts.  I would greatly appreciate you visiting my personal page & you supporting me on my walk to Race for the Cure! My Personal Page!

Getting new ink… February 7, 2010

On January 23, 2010 I did something I have been talking about doing for a couple of years.  I got my second tattoo.  I have always known I wanted an Eagles tattoo but planned on waiting until they won a Super Bowl.  I am a diehard fan and that will never change but let’s be honest, the Eagles may not win a Super Bowl for a while.  I chose to go ahead and get the tattoo now so I could start cherishing it while I am still young.

I also got to share this experience with a new friend, Stacey, whom I met through Twitter!  She was getting her second tattoo in celebration of her 31st birthday.  She got the old school Phillies P!

We had a great time and I love my tattoo! :)

Bring it on 2010… January 1, 2010

Happy New Year everyone! :) I actually had one of the best New Year’s Eve’s ever this year which only can mean one thing, 2010 is going to be great & I cannot wait.  I usually don’t do anything for New Year’s because I think it is overrated honestly.  I still kept it low-key but had a great time.  My mom, sister & I went over to my mom’s friends and spent the evening with her & her daughter.  We shared good company, food, drinks, laughs & played Apples to Apples.  It was my first time playing that game and it was quite entertaining and fun!  I highly recommend it for groups of people looking for some laughs.

I hope 2010 brings great memories, new opportunities & is an overall awesome year!

A Home Run for Casey Bear October 30, 2009

caseyI would like to take a moment to let everyone know about a great fundraising event that I will be attending. Please come out and join my family & I for a lot of fun all for a great cause. Casey Taylor is my Uncle Andy’s niece and a special little girl.

Here is her story as written by Kristin Taylor: “Casey was born in September 2008. She was found to have biliary atresia (a blockage of the ducts which feed the liver). Casey was operated on in December 2008. The surgery was not successful and Casey needed a liver. As her twin, Megan, developed and functioned normally, Casey’s health deteriorated. Her Daddy was a match and in May 2009 the doctors in Pittsburgh took a piece of her Daddy’s liver and inserted it into Casey. The surgery was succesful but there were many bumps in the road, including cardiac arrest and a stroke. Casey Bear has come a very long way but is not out of the woods yet! There is ongoing treatment and the expenses are “barely” getting paid.”

This is where the fundraiser comes in and COTA (Children’s Organ Transplant Association) accepts donations to cover transplant related expenses. The fundraiser will take place Saturday, November 14, 2009 at McFadden’s located at Citizen’s Bank Park in Philadelphia, PA. It will be held from 2-5pm and the cost is $30/person or $50/couple.  The $50/couple applies to presale tickets only, tickets will be available at the door for $30/person. This price includes all you can eat buffet food and all you can drink soda, wine & beer. There will also be a cash bar open for other drinks. You will also have the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets for some great door prizes.

If you do not live in the area or cannot make it out to this event please visit Casey’s COTA website where you can find updates on her along with a place to make donations. http://www.cotaforcaseyt.com  For those of you interested in coming please contact me for presale tickets or I will see you there!

****UPDATE**** – I have raffle tickets for two great prizes!  First prize is Club Box tickets to an Eagles game in December and second prizes are a custom-made “Casey Bear” bracelet or $100.00 cash!! The first winner pulled for the second prize gets to choose! Raffle tickets are only $1/ticket or 6 for $5.00. Please contact me to purchase raffle tickets if you cannot make the event! Thanks!

road rage… March 8, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — ashleycollette @ 10:29 pm

Everyone has it in them, but it only comes out of some people and I am one of them. I have soooo many things that bother me when driving and it is all coming out right now. There is a reason there are more than one lanes on some roads. Obviously, most people don’t know that the left hand lane is the fast lane and the right is the slow lane. If you are in the left lane and someone is tailing you….GET OVER!!!! That’s right, I’ll admit it, if you are in the left hand lane going below the speed limit, I will tail you until you get over and if you want to play games and go slower, I will pass you in the right hand lane. Yes, I do know that is illegal but I don’t care. Then there are the people who are too insecure with themselves to know when it is their turn at a four way stop so they wave people on and pretend like they are being nice and letting you go when in actuality they have no idea what is going on and are scared to go out of turn. I will go when it is my turn so don’t try and wave me to go acting like you are doing a nice gesture. I know when it is my turn and that is when I will go. Now we have the people who think because they see a cop they are supposed to go 10 below the speed limit. NOOOO! Just because there is a cop around doesn’t mean you have to drive like an old granny. You can go the speed limit at LEAST! The last people I will talk about are the “rubber-neckers”. Is it really necessary to slow down to about 5mph so you can look over and stare at people being pulled over or in an accident??? No it isn’t. People wonder why there are random traffic jams when the accident is on the other side of the road. It is those stupid “rubber-neckers” who are slowing everything down. You don’t need to know what is going on so don’t look. In closing, I would like everyone to know I am not a perfect driver BUT I have never been pulled over or in an accident. (knock on wood). Also, now that I have a vanity plate I am more cautious in flipping people off and screaming at other drivers that piss me off. So I am calming down a little. :)
